Response to Coronavirus

Bloom's Response to Coronavirus - effective March 14, 2020

We have the most amazing community of students and massage clients. Thank you for all of your support during this difficult time. It means the world to our whole team!

As you know, increasing numbers of medical and public health professionals have called for social distancing and avoiding public interactions, and public and private institutions around the country are temporarily closing due to the increasing risk of coronavirus. Over the past week we've taken proactive steps such as increasing sanitizing, removing props from the studios, and reducing class sizes, and it has been heart-warming to hear your appreciation for the comfort and well-being Bloom has brought to you during this time.

But based on the recent concerns around the trajectory of the spread of the virus, we now feel that this simply is not enough. Over the past week, our team here at Bloom has been discussing the eventual possibility of transitioning our in-person classes to online as a result of the recommendations. While we had hoped to avoid this, when considering the health and safety of our amazing clients (that's you!) and dedicated staff we feel confident in our decision.

Bloom will temporarily stop offering in-person yoga classes and massage appointments on Monday, March 16th for a period of two weeks.

This means that there will be no classes, workshops, teacher trainings, or massage sessions at Bloom during this time. We will closely watch credible news sources and will be sure to communicate any updates in the coming weeks.

Stay tuned for Online Yoga!

Never fear - all is not lost when it comes to yoga with your favorite Bloom teachers! We are currently making plans to offer online yoga during the closure period, and we'll have more info about that in the coming days. We have already shifted all of our teacher training hours to an online format, and it's working really well and our lovely trainees have expressed their gratitude for this shift.

Reduced schedule of classes for Sunday, March 15th

We will be offering a reduced schedule of classes, with our last class from 2-3:15pm. Class size limits will remain in place, so please reserve your spot in advance if at all possible.

Taking care of our Incredible Staff

We know how much the fabulous Bloom team of teachers, massage therapists, and front desk managers means to all of you. (They are amazing, right?!?!?) Zach and I love our team, and we're so grateful for each and every one of them for their compassion, insights, and support during this time. While none of us wanted to take this step, our staff is in support of the decision. We also want you to know that we are compensating our PT and FT managers as well as offering financial assistance to all of our teaching and massage staff to ease the burden that this temporary closure will cause.

Let's all help "flatten the curve!"

I realize there are a lot of emotions around this situation that extend beyond your experience at Bloom, and recognize that you each of you may have a different reaction to this decision. Please trust that we are doing our very best to consider all factors, most notably the safety of our clients and staff, as well as the larger implications and our duty to help prevent the spread of the virus and be part of the attempt to "flatten the curve."

As always, I welcome your thoughts, suggestions, and input as we navigate this completely unprecedented situation in the most compassionate and conscious way we are able.

All of us at Bloom can't wait to gather together again in our sunny and welcoming space on Rockwell. It's such a joy to share in the practice of yoga with the guidance of our beloved Bloom teachers, and to receive the rejuvenating gift of massage in the skillful hands of our amazing massage therapists. Let's all take good care and stay connected - I'll be in touch again soon!

Thank you so much,

Kerry Maiorca
