Karen Plumley

Karen started practicing yoga when she was pregnant with her first son, and has never looked back. Her practice and classes have evolved over the years to include breathwork, meditation, and hand gestures (mudra) in addition to postures. She is drawn toward a more gentle practice of yoga as she feels yoga is for every body and this style of yoga is more accessible to many students, especially those who may be recovering from injury or who are living with chronic conditions. Her goals with her students are to meet each student where they are, to create a safe place for practice, and to empower her students to find the best practice for themselves on any given day.

Karen received her 200 hour TT certification through Global Yoga and Wellness in 2008. She received a 140 hour certificate in teaching yoga to cancer survivors in 2012. She also has specific training in both gentle and restorative yoga. Karen completed her 300 hour TT certification through Inner Peace Yoga Therapy in 2017, and is currently a yoga therapist-in-training, working towards 500 additional hours of study through IPYT as well.

Karen is a life- long North-sider, and enjoys exploring the city with her family, as well as escaping to nature as often as she can to take hikes and listen to the wisdom of the trees.
