Karen has loved yoga since she took her first class in the late 1990’s. While the poses felt good physically, equally as important were the groundedness & clarity that evolved during her yoga practice. The serenity she felt after classes became especially important to her as her children grew and she sought a quiet place to refocus and breathe.
Karen became certified to teach Hatha Yoga through Global Yoga & Wellness in early 2008. She is currently working on her certification in Yoga for Survivors, which focuses on teaching safe and accessible classes to survivors of any type of cancer, at any stage of recovery.
She is continually inspired to study and evolve as both a student and teacher, realizing the practice of yoga is a lifelong path. Karen’s intention is to cultivate a sense of joy and peace in her classes, along with a strong emphasis on alignment and focus on breathing. And she also hopes her students have fun along the way!
Karen is a lifelong North-Sider (Go Cubs!). Besides yoga, she enjoys exploring the city with her children, biking, dancing, and hiking.
